She is currently the Director of the American Studies Center at the University of Indonesia, Jakarta Indonesia and a faculty member of the Department of International Relations of the University of Indonesia. She has spent much of her career as an educator both in Indonesia and the United States. She is also a newspaper columnist in major Indonesian publications and a source person for local and international broadcasting programs for issues concerning American foreign policy and American politics. Most of all she is very much concerned about the future of Indonesia. With regard to this, her focus is particularly directed on the needs for the provision of a broad-based basic education in Indonesia and a focus on disseminating a general knowledge on how Indonesia should embark on ways of governing a modern polity that is democratic, self-governing, transparent, accountable, and merit-based. She was educated at the University of Indonesia, the Johns Hopkins University and Northwestern University.
