Douglas Ramage, a frequent speaker at USINDO programs, is The Asia Foundation’s Country Representative in Indonesia. The Asia Foundation is the largest private international organization working to support governance and economic reform in Indonesia. Dr. Ramage manages an international staff of over 80 and in 2006 will provide over $15 million in technical assistance and grants to approximately 100 Indonesian organizations and government agencies. He joined The Asia Foundation in 1996, after holding appointments at the East-West Center, the University of Hawaii, and as a Fulbright Scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta. He is the author of numerous works on Indonesian politics and received his Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of South Carolina. He is author of the upcoming “Indonesia in 2006: Democracy First, Good Governance Later,” in Southeast Asian Affairs 2007, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, 2007 (forthcoming).
