The first Indonesian street festival is coming to downtown Silver Spring! MADE IN INDONESIA will greet visitors and residents of the Washington, DC Metro area on May 21st, 2011. This unique spring event offers an authentic Indonesian experience through performing arts, interactive activities and exhibitions by Indonesian artists and entrepreneurs.

The diverse line-up of performers in the festival include House of Angklung Orchestra, Wrhatnala USA dance group, Rumah Gadang  dance group, Al Azhar  Pencak Silat Martial Arts group, Calung Sunda traditional music, and fashion show by Batik Boutique.

It’s a celebration for all ages and senses. Kids can join the family fun activities such arts and crafts, storytelling and puppet shows. Authentic Indonesian cuisine from different parts of the country, such as satay (Indonesian meat skewers), will be available to taste. The audience are more than welcome to practice their kicks with the martial art masters, make music with traditional instruments, and participate in the performances and games. Everyone will experience all things Indonesian and have chances to win prizes.

The event  is free and open to the public and will be held from 11 am to 7 pm on 908 Ellsworth Drive, MD 20910, just a block away from the Silver Spring Red line Metro Station.
