International Seminar and Festival of Indonesian Music
The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M Sackler Gallery will hold an International Seminar and Festival of Indonesian Music on October 31–November 3, 2013 at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. The festival is open to all ensembles and artists engaged with the Indonesian performing arts, as well as to scholars, students, critics and others to share their latest research, insights, and observations about the past, present, and future of gamelan and other Indonesian musics. Confirmed participants from Indonesia include full troupes from Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Institut Seni Indonesia Padang Panjang, and Institut Seni Indonesia Bali. All events are free and open to the public.
