Please join us on Thursday, January 20 at 9:00 a.m. at the Embassy of Indonesia for a USINDO Special Event with Dr. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, key leader of economic development and reform efforts for President SBY.

Dr. Mangkusubroto heads the President’s Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4), established to provide top level monitoring of the delivery of development programs (akin to the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Delivery Unit), and  manages the President’s Situation Room, similar to the White House’s West Wing.

President SBY has also appointed him to head the Judicial Mafia Eradication Task Force, and the Special Task Force on REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation).

Previously, he was the Head of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) in Aceh 2005-2009.  As the Head of BRR, he led the reconstruction effort with funding of nearly US$8 billion, of which 70% was foreign assistance. The reconstruction outcome has become an international role model for post-disaster management.  Dr. Kuntoro also played a significant role in the Indonesian energy and natural resources sector, where he was the Minister for Mining and Energy (1998-1999) and CEO of PLN (state electricity company), 2000-2001.

Please arrive at the Embassy of Indonesia (President Room) for coffee at 8:30.  The program begins 9:00 sharp and ends 10:15.
