Alicia Freedman is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration in the Cornell University Institute for Public Affairs. She is focusing on International Development, specifically the sharing of resources that will benefit both the US and Southeast Asian nations such as Indonesia. Alicia was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Northeastern Thailand, the Assistant Outreach Coordinator for Cornell’s Southeast Asia Program, and a short-term student consultant for Cancer Resource and Education (CaRE) in Malaysia. Alicia is fluent in Thai and is thrilled to begin learning Bahasa as well as more about Indonesian culture and Islam. In addition to public policy, Alicia is also interested in the use of puppetry, dance, music and other media to communicate messages that enhance the quality of life of people in Indonesia. Alicia is looking forward to expanding her capacity to take part in culturally-appropriate and environmentally-conscious development work in Indonesia.
