Supriyanto Suwito is a first-year Master of International Affairs (MIA) student at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), with a concentration in International Security Policy. After receiving his B.A. in International Relations from the University of Indonesia in 2006, Supriyanto joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. He spent his first year in the Ministry attending diplomatic trainings in Jakarta and The Hague, as well as doing a three-month internship in the Indonesian Mission to the United Nations in New York. Upon returning to Jakarta, Supriyanto was consecutively assigned to the Department of International Security and Disarmament, the Office of the Director General for Multilateral Affairs, and the Department for ASEAN Political and Security Cooperation. In the fall of 2009, after winning the Edward Masters USINDO-SAIS John Hopkins Fellowship Program, he began his studies at Columbia. In the summer of 2010 Supriyanto will be conducting independent research on topics with strategic importance to Indonesia’s foreign policy (such as: ASEAN, climate change, counter-terrorism, G-20, Islam & Democracy).
