Ainan Nuran is a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She is currently assigned to the Directorate of Public Diplomacy, working to promote democracy, civil society, and youth empowerment. Starting in the fall of 2013, Ainan will study Economic and Political Development at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), so that she can work on Indonesian development issues in the future.
Ainan graduated from the University of Indonesia in 2009 with a B.A. in International Relations, specializing on Transnational Society. After graduating, she interned with the Human Rights Working Group, and taught traditional Saman dance at a school for marginalized children in Jakarta. In early 2010, she joined the Ministry. During her free time, she enjoys travelling and taking analogue photographs.
